The EVNO PNX1 piano microphone system is designed and manufactured by hand in the USA.  The microphone setup is designed to be a single omni microphone system for grand and upright pianos either placed between the sound holes of a grand piano or inside and on the bottom panel of an upright piano.  Designed as a mono solution for mic’ing a piano in a live performance setting, the system is also known to be used to enhanced and add variety in a studio setting.  

 

Designed to reproduce the sound of the particular instrument as natural or without any coloration as possible.  The PNX1 is engineered to be EQ’d flat.  The microphone provides plenty of gain before feedback while maintaining the natural sound of each piano.  The microphone is suspended in an 8 point isolation shock mount design which helps to reduce any vibration and handling noise.  The microphone is mounted to a Evno / USA made gooseneck which allows for easy further positioning once the perfect placement is determined by the magnetic clamp.

 

The setup is quick and easy which eliminates the need for bulky microphone stands which can take up space on stage.  The microphone is secured by placing the gooseneck or the microphone body into the Evno Piano Clamp (Evno PNX1-CL) creating two mounting / placement options.  The placement of the microphone in two various options allow for tighter installs or the ability to stretch the gooseneck further if desired.  The microphone is suspended in a suspension ring which reduces vibration from the instrument and the gooseneck while allowing for the microphone to reach beyond the footprint of the magnetic mount attached to the piano.

 

The PNX1 connects via an Evno Ta3-Ta4 Cable connecting directly to an Evno PS95 power supply which is powered by either phantom power or 1 AA battery.  The PS95 includes a low-cut filter and can be completely shut off while using a AA battery.  While using phantom power, the microphone can be shut off by turning off phantom power.  If planning to leave the microphone system in the piano for a length of time, the XLR cable from the mixing console and Evno power supply could be left inside the piano as long as your powering the system with phantom power for an upright piano and / or phantom or battery for a grand.  If powering with AA battery, the microphone should be shut off after use to save battery life.

 

The PNX1 is the perfect setup for churches and concert venues that may leave the piano in one spot for a length of time or for the sound engineer or pianist that moves the system from one piano or stage to another.  

 

The complete setup includes an Evno branded leather microphone bag, cable, PS95 power supply / preamp, magnetic clamp(PNX1-CL), and one double position microphone piano specific Evno microphone.

Craftsmanship and Features

PNX1-CL Clamp

The PNX-CL piano clamp is an extremely simple to use system that attaches to the brass sound board of a piano with a team of four magnets.  The clamp can hold the microphone by either attaching the gooseneck to the clamp OR for extended reaches, attaching the microphone body to the clamp.  A variety of positions can be achieved with this setup to accommodate each individual piano.  A Stay-flex gooseneck allows for additional positioning options as needed.

Windscreen - Large

Evno windscreens are available in two sizes, tailored to fit the two different sizes of capsule shells. These windscreens are included with each microphone but use is optional designed to protect the microphone diaphragm from gusts of air, which can occur in windy conditions. They are particularly beneficial for more aggressive players who produce higher volume levels, as the resulting wind stream can be on occasion be noticed. The windscreens help enhance sound by reducing breath noise. Conversely, for softer players, the breath noise produced on certain instruments may be a deliberate part of their sound, making the use of a windscreen less desirable.

The optional OR replacement cable is setup for the customer that already owns a wireless system from one of these brands. The Ta4 is also compatible with the PS95 Preamp / power supply for hard wired use.

What Is Phantom power?

Phantom power is direct current (DC) electric power that is applied equally to both signal wires of a balanced microphone cable. Phantom power supplies are most often built into mixing consoles and microphone preamps. The purpose of Phantom power is to supply 48 volts of current to microphones that have built-in active circuitry over the same cable that is used to send the microphone’s signal back to the mixer or preamp. Since there is no visible power supply unit (like those common with tube microphones) the term Phantom power is used.

Do you offer a belt pack style transmitter with a volume control?

Yes, Evno offers the A2 belt pack transmitter for musicians who prefer an on-body transmitter. The A2 includes a convenient volume control, allowing players to adjust their sound levels effortlessly.

Do you have a hand held wireless microphone?

Yes, Evno offers the AH handheld microphone which sync’s to the W1, W2, and Air receivers.  The most common setup would be to combine the AH with W2 Dual receiver to have both a wireless horn microphone and hand held active at the same time.
